Waycross Cable Channels Restored

At about 9:30 Wednesday morning, Time Warner experienced what they are calling a "major event".  The contractor working on the Waycross Road Streetscape near Union Central drilled thru a fiber trunk line, which took out service to a number of area business customers.

In our case, it took out four of our major systems: our internet fiber connection, the fiber that carries our channels to Warner for playback, the fiber that connects us to our community government buildings, and our cable service. Fortunately, our other major communications system - the telephone - was still working, which allowed us to communicate with viewers, Time Warner and our local governments about the outage.

The internet service was restored about 4:15 PM, which allowed us to resume streaming our Government and Education channels (our website and video on demand services remained online during this period, as they are now hosted elsewhere).  The cable channels came back online sometime after 7 PM.  Our LIVE Concert on the Commons Concert was webcast in it's entirety, and a portion was also cablecast LIVE as the channel was restored. If you missed a portion of the concert or any of our other programming on Wednesday, please check out the playback schedule on our website.

Time Warner apologized for the delay in getting their service (and our channels) back up and running.
